Telcos lose over 56L cellular customers subscribers in Could: TRAI

The telecom trade misplaced round 56.11 lakh wi-fi subscribers in Could amid the lockdown, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) knowledge reveals. The general telecom subscriber base for wi-fi connections stood at over 114.39 crore in Could, in comparison with 114.95 crore in April. Though there was an general erosion of subscriber base, Reliance Jio continued to guide the subscription race and added over 36.57 lakh subscribers in the course of the month beneath evaluation taking its whole tally to 39.27 crore customers.

Each Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Concept continued to lose subscribers. Airtel misplaced over 47.42 lakh subscribers and Vodafone Concept misplaced 47.26 lakh customers taking their respective subscriber base to 31.78 crore and over 30.99 crore, confirmed the TRAI knowledge on Wednesday.

State-run BSNL added over 2.01 lakh new connections taking its subscriber base to over 11.99 crore.

The information confirmed that in Could 29.8 lakh subscribers submitted their requests for cellular quantity portability (MNP).

“With this, the cumulative MNP requests elevated from 488.23 million on the finish of April 2020 to 491.21 million on the finish of Could 2020, since implementation of MNP,” the TRAI assertion mentioned.
