‘Let me die with household’: Contractor awaiting dues from Bengal govt, writes to President, CM – kolkata

After ready for years for the West Bengal authorities to clear his unpaid payments amounting to round Rs one crore, accrued since 2015, a civil building contractor has sought permission from President Ramnath Kovind and chief minister Mamata Banerjee to die by suicide along with his household.

The incident grew to become one of many speaking factors in Malda district on Sunday.

Jayanta Pramanik, the contractor who hails from the Pandalpara space of Chanchol sub-division in Malda, mentioned, “In 2015-16, I constructed the bungalow of the sub-divisional officer of Chanchol. Later, I carried out a number of different building works on the similar website. The manager engineer’s workplace took Rs 10 lakh from me as safety deposit. The PWD workplace neither paid me for the work, nor has launched the safety deposit.”

That’s not all; he added that payments for work executed in 2019 had been additionally unpaid.

“Across the Lok Sabha election in 2019, I carried out some infrastructure improvement tasks however until now, the SDO’s workplace has not cleared the payments which quantity to Rs 45 lakh,” Pramanik mentioned.

The contractor claimed that he needed to borrow cash at excessive rates of interest to hold out the tasks. “The lenders are pressuring me to repay. I’ve already offered my spouse’s jewellery to boost cash. I can’t even present two sq. meals a day to my two daughters, my spouse and my elder brother. I can’t bear their ache anymore and have appealed to the President and the CM to allow us to finish our lives.”

Pramanik alleged that on July 7, the SDO seized his automotive when he went to the latter’s workplace and insisted that his dues be cleared.
